Not only does this peel offer an array of benefits, it’s also quick to apply and requires little to no downtime. To begin your treatment, we will apply a layer of liquid carbon to your face. Once this layer dries, which takes about 10 minutes, we pass the innovative Nd:YAG laser over the skin to gently bind it to your skin. Our specialty laser then fragments the carbon into small pieces—allowing our relaxing smoke evaporator to remove the carbon and impurities. Finally, we apply moisturizer and sunscreen to your face, to keep the treated area protected.
This gentle, heat-based process makes this peel a great choice for those with sensitive skin who struggle with pigmentation and texture issues. At Essentially Bare Laser MedSpa, we cater each cosmetic treatment to your unique goals and walk you through your procedure from start to finish, so all you need to do is sit back and relax.
How Does the Carbon Laser Peel Treat Melasma?
The carbon laser peel is a procedure designed to address melasma and other skin concerns. Here's how the carbon laser peel treats melasma:
- Carbon Application: A thin layer of liquid carbon is applied to the skin's surface. The carbon absorbs laser energy, enhancing its effectiveness in targeting pigmented areas.
- Laser Energy Absorption: The laser emits short bursts of high-intensity energy, selectively targeting the melanin (pigment) in the skin. The carbon particles absorb this energy.
- Heat Generation: As the laser energy is absorbed, it generates heat. This heat selectively destroys or breaks down melanin-containing cells responsible for the appearance of melasma.
- Stimulating Collagen Production: Beyond targeting pigmentation, the heat generated by the laser stimulates collagen production, promoting skin rejuvenation and improving overall skin texture.
- Exfoliation and Renewal: The procedure results in exfoliation, removing the upper layer of damaged skin cells. This promotes the growth of new, healthier skin cells, contributing to a more even skin tone.
- Reducing Pigmentation: Over subsequent days and weeks, the treated areas gradually lighten as the damaged pigmented cells are eliminated and replaced by new skin cells.
The carbon laser peel's ability to precisely target pigmentation and stimulate collagen makes it an effective treatment for melasma. Multiple sessions may be required for optimal results, and it is crucial to follow post-treatment care guidelines for the best outcome. A consultation with our team can determine whether this is an ideal treatment for you.
