Facial lines and wrinkles happen through a combination of aging, heredity, muscle action, sun damage and gravity. Our facial expressions are made by strong muscle contractions, and over time, create forehead lines, crow's feet and the vertical creases between our eyes. These lines, creases and wrinkles can now be successfully treated with small injections of BOTOX® directly into the muscle.
BOTOX® is a purified protein muscle relaxing agent that is administered non-surgically by a physician or our nurse practioner. It is a formulation of botulinum toxin type A. This bacterium produces a protein that blocks the release of acetylcholine, thus reducing the activity of muscles that cause moderate to severe facial lines and wrinkles. For example, when BOTOX® is injected into the muscles surrounding the eyes the muscles become “paralyzed”. They can not contract for a period of time, therefore the wrinkles (crow’s feet) in that area temporarily disappear. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in April of 2002 approved BOTOX® for cosmetic use. The results of BOTOX® injections are not permanent, but can last up to 8 months.
Botox has been used in various surgical procedures to freeze muscles so surgery can be performed. It has also been used in eye conditions to stop twitching. After a BOTOX® injection to the forehead, the wrinkles disappear within 1-7 days. This effect lasts from 3-8 months, depending on individual circumstances. The paralysis gradually wears off, and periodic re-treatment is needed.
There is also a preventative benefit to BOTOX®. Because the treated facial muscles are no longer making powerful contractions, lines and creases are not worsened.

Radiesse is a safe, FDA approved injectable substance that bodes both immediate and long lasting results that will blend to the natural appearance of your skin. The procedure is administered by a medical doctor or nurse practitioner on site, with costs varying depending on the area being treated, and the quantity required to treat the specific area. Radiesse is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that restores healthy looking skin by reducing signs of aging such as wrinkles, marionette lines, smile lines, fine lines around the nose and the area across the upper nose.
A non-toxic, non-allergenic calcium based gel is injected into the skin using a small needle and a local aesthetic in order to stimulate the body’s own production of healthy tissue and collagen. It is a process often referred to as an implant rather than a filler because the injected gel forms a matrix (or mesh) with the body’s natural tissue which acts as a growing environment for new tissue to form. By stimulating this growth, results may last up to several years.
Restylane is a safe cosmetic procedure that restores and enhances facial volume as well as smooths wrinkles and folds. It is also used effectively for sculpting lips. Restylane was approved by the FDA for cosmetic use in December of 2003.
Restylane is a gel of hyaluronic acid produced by bacteria. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is called non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid (NASHA) because it is not derived from animal sources, thus eliminating any risk of animal based disease transmission or allergic reaction. Hyaluronic acid is a “water loving” substance that naturally exists in the human body. It attracts and binds water, helping to maintain fullness in the area of injection. Restylane’s success is due to its ability to use the body’s own moisture, helping to provide lasting results of 6 months or longer. NASHA is fully bio-compatible with human hyaluronic acid. When Restylane is injected into wrinkled skin it gives fullness (plumps and smooths), and minimizes the prominence of wrinkles in the area being treated.
